Fast Aperture Prime Lens. The Canon 50mm f/1.4 is a solid, affordable 50mm lens that features a f/1.4 aperture. The wide aperture allows this lens to be used in dim lighting, but it shows better sharpness stopped down to f/2.0 or so. The lens blurs backgrounds nicely, but because of its wider depth of field it can't do nearly as good a job as the 85mm lenses can.
